Logging a flight in Aviato is fast and flexible. You can log manually, search for a flight, or confirm an auto-detected one. This guide walks you through the full flow—from finding a flight to saving it into your logbook. Once you’ve logged a few flights, Aviato remembers your preferences and speeds things up automatically.

Start a new flight


Open Aviato and select "Log a Flight". Choose whether you want to search for a flight or log manually.

  1. Find your flight
    If you search for a flight, enter:
    - Flight number
    - Date
    Aviato searches live flight data and shows the closest matches.
    Select the correct flight to preload route, times, and aircraft.
  2. Review and edit details
    • Once a flight is selected, Aviato fills in:
    - Route
    - Aircraft type
    - Block and flight times
    • You can edit any field, including:
    - Off and on times
    - Duty type
    - Aircraft
    - Notes and remarks
  3. Set your role and time split
    Choose your role for the flight (PIC, SIC, P2X, Instructor, etc.).
    Aviato applies smart seat-time logic based on route length and typical crew size.
    You can override any values before saving.
  4. Save your flight
    Review the summary at the bottom of the screen.
    Select Save Flight.
    Your flight is added to your logbook instantly.
